ABOUT 

AGK Principal and Head Coach, Matt Acton, is passionate about helping young goalkeepers realise their potential and pursue their football dreams through a specific, challenging, safe and enjoyable environment. With almost two decades of experience as a professional goalkeeper, Matt's playing career continues with Vanuatu United FC, where he serves as both a player and goalkeeping coach. Alongside his club commitments, Matt is the Goalkeeping Coach of the Vanuatu Senior Men's National Team, working with the country's leading goalkeepers at international level.

 

 

Throughout his career, Matt has played for Brisbane Roar FC, Melbourne Victory FC, Kaya FC in the Philippines, Yangon United FC in Myanmar, and Vanuatu United FC. He has won multiple A-League Championships, Premierships and an Australian Cup, while also representing his clubs in the Asian Champions League and AFC Cup. A former Australian U20 representative, Matt has played professionally across multiple countries and experienced almost every aspect of the professional goalkeeping journey.

 

 

Having graduated from the Queensland Academy of Sport Men's Football Program in his mid-teens, Matt understands firsthand the dedication, resilience and commitment required to progress through the football pathway and reach the professional level. He is passionate about using his experiences to support the next generation of goalkeepers and provide them with the guidance, knowledge and opportunities he was fortunate enough to receive throughout his own career.

 

 

Through Acton Goalkeeping (AGK), Matt is committed to creating a professional development environment where goalkeepers of all levels can learn, enjoy and master the position. His approach combines his extensive experience as a professional player with his knowledge and experience as a coach, providing young goalkeepers with a clear pathway to develop both on and off the field.

 

 

Matt is an FA-accredited coach who enjoys working with like-minded goalkeepers, coaches and families who share a passion for the position. Through AGK, he is excited to continue developing goalkeeping in Queensland and help young goalkeepers unlock their potential, build confidence and take the next step in their football journey.
